We had the privilege of creating a meaningful content piece for Women In Shipping (WIS). This project is important because it highlights an issue that still demands attention - the gender pay gap.
In Denmark, November 14th symbolizes the day when women effectively work "for free" for the rest of the year due to a persistent 12.4% pay gap (Statistics Denmark, 2023). Though the shipping industry offers higher-than-average salaries, women in shipping still earn significantly less than men across all roles and levels of seniority. Female managers, for instance, earn 32% less than their male counterparts (Damvad Analytics, 2021).
WIS is committed to tackling this inequality through dialogue, policy advocacy, and challenging long-standing biases.
